One of the humanity’s greatest challenges is to find new answers for decarbonizing the planet, while meeting its voracious food and energy needs.

Monarch Bioenergy has an unexpected answer:  pig poop.

Monarch is a new bio innovations company whose main focus is capturing methane gas from pig manure and turning into carbon-negative renewable natural gas—on a massive scale. It’s a partnership between Smithfield, America’s largest pork producer; Roeslein Alternative Energy, a global leader in industrial engineering, and TPG Rise, a major global impact investment fund.

H.I.’s challenge was to create a powerful brand idea that unified three diverse companies, simplified a complicated technology story, and differentiated Monarch from other players in the renewable natural gas sector.

In the sustainability conversation, people always talk about solar, wind, and hydro power.  We’re changing the conversation. Recognizing agriculture’s long overlooked role in sustainability, we positioned Monarch as the leader in Farm Power.

We brought the idea to life with a comprehensive corporate identity program and articulated a brand look, feel, and vision that speaks to a growing roster of new employees, investors, partners, and customers.  Lastly, we launched a new website that demonstrates how Monarch is not only a leading source renewable energy, but of multiple innovations and revenue streams.

Old MacDonald’s farm was never like this.
